How did you get the LIN number for this case?
Hm.. I was thinking that these are random #'s that I had typed in earlier and which IE had saved in the form box. But now I think about it, I believe i got these numbers from this forum on some thread long time back.. Don't know which one, I have edited the post now to mask the LIN #.

Firstly, I'm a supporter of CIR...but I still sense some ambiguity in these lines...
may be it's just me...:)

The specific details is what we are all waiting for. CIR seems to be the only way to expect some change for EB. We need to work for this change to be a good one for us.

Its useless... How many senators, their voters or other decision makers watch those kannada, telugu or even rediff???
Try to contact FOX, CNN, ABC etc.. that will be helpfull.
It is for all those people (the indian diaspora) who do log on to the online versions of their hometown newspapers to check local Indian news, it might be a pleasant surprise to see the news abt the rally out there!!!
Secondly won't you be inclined to be a part of the rally when your mom or dad friend or a cousin read the news back home and asked you " are you a part this movement" imagine all the non commital people saying ummm ummmm food for thought bloke!!:rolleyes:

Today I was talking to IO in Texas service center, during discussion I told her that India dates might retrogress.. can you please expedite my case. For that she replied that " that's what they are doing"

I know after we file the i-485 for 180 days, we can change our jobs. But rule is that the new job should be in the same field as the old one.
Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!
biostatistician job position can involve analysis of biological data. That qualifies you still as a biological researcher. Biological researcher is a very very very broad term working from bacteria to human genetic diseases; deep sea fish to suspected life forms in asteroids and space debri (astrobiology). It is basically a straightforward description of what you are going to do as a biostatistician and justification of how this will still qualify you as a biological researcher. That makes it very much job specific: if you are going to use statistical methods to analyze GE's cat scanner machine performace it would not be biological research, but if you are going to use some statistical methods in analyzing cat scanned body images and tie your analysis to clinical conditions it would. If you could post both your current job description in your gc application and the prospective biostatistican job description as you see, I can try to help you.

When they ask 245i (April 2001 Deadline) people to submit the application for legal status (Labor.. i-140 ..etc) why didn't they also create the VISA Number for them?
It's legal immigrant taking the hit because of illegal immigrants.

Its okay, some folks do not see in-direct benefit to them, but once they see the value they will stop complaining. We shouldn't just stop due to opposition. I agree this doesn't provide direct benefit to all and it is expected that people will oppose. It is the nature of human being, I bet if you start a debate over EB-2 & Eb-3, lot of people from EB-3 will complain and who are from EB-2 will be all over to save their spot in queue, and those who have jumped from Eb-3 to Eb-2 will just be silent watchers. I don’t blame them either, this is the irony of being EB I/C, which builds so much frustration. But given the current situation, we have not been able to get anything accomplished in last year or so, and no big CIR in near future, we should start looking for ways to get small fixes, could be recapture, five year EAD-AP, discounting dependents, etc. There are so many avenues we could explore, don’t know which one may work, but if it works if benefits everybody in one way or other.

The general idea in a desi mind is "why should this other guy get his GC first".
Good idea, but will not work since people cannot think outside the box. Most people think that if I cannot get a GC why should the guy in the next cubicle (who has a US Master's) get it. They don't realize that by taking the US Masters out of the regular queue, they would probably get their GCs faster :)

Hi all,
Now H1 period no longer counts against H4 period. As H4 is allowed to do volunteer I work, I had taken up few Volunteer Projects and done some Open Source Projects for keeping my Skills updated.
Is it advisable to put all these expeience in resume, while applying for a new H1B or only professional experience should be shown on the resume.

To tell you honestly, my primary reason for joining this forum is to learn from others' experiences - whether it be good or bad.
I can also see the opinion of others regarding matters of my personal and general interests. It is my own judgment to believe some of it or not.
Joining the rally or givin' contribution is last in my interest as I do not have a job yet and no income.
We should start respecting one's opinion and one's life. Each of us has its own case and unique to each other. My suggestion to those inviting to the rally or seeking for contribution to do it via private message. That is a nice way of doing it.
When somebody starts a thread that you do not like, just ignore it instead of posting 'close this thread'. The thread has a life of its own. If it is not popular, then it will go down to the bottom of the line. If it is very interesting, many will subscribe to it and you will find it at the first page.
Cheers to all...we all have our own problems...some are here just to find comfort...

When (what date) did you get a notice from NSC saying that your I-485 is now transferred into NSC and now pending from processing?
I never received a transfer notice from NSC, however my wife received a transfer notice long back (some time in Sep')

I have been busy the last 2 weekends collecting signatures from all my friends, neighbors and colleagues.
2 parties, 3 play dates and 10 days later, I have managed to get a total of 53 letters signed. I will be posting all of them today.
Please do your part in sending in signed letters. It is really easy, especially if you have the templates ready. This is going to be a big win for IV if we can accomplish it.

I totally agree that non-white folks will be inspected by cops during the initial period of enactment of the law. What's the big deal about it. We will be stopped by cops. They will check our papers and will leave us, won't they? The same is true for Latinos (if they are here legally).

HI ..most the CP filers are in US and contribute to Immigration Voice regularly. You can say by mistake or something else some people chose to go for Consular Processing when dates became current and they all are in bad shape at this time. If you think about those who applied for Cp being in US then you would realise 485 filers are too much priviledged in comparison of them.
