Well, I do have a vested interest in maintaining status quo, at least with regard to the per country caps.
But, working in one of the Valley companies, I see a lot of people from India and China who just don't mix with rest of the people, say, from Poland or Germany or France or Iran. US (the whole government, including USCIS) likes the idea of 'Melting pot' when it comes to immigration. When you melt a lot of metals with each other, you don't end up with a fragmented alloy, since you've capped the amount of each metal in your pot. That is how you get 'Little Italy's and 'China Town's and the latest one in San Jose, CA: 'Saigon Business district'

The visa numbers for Indians in EB2 category is 'unavailable' currently. Every month the USCIS estimates (rather guesses :rolleyes:) the demand for visas in each category adds to it their own forecasted work pace and based on some super secretive formula comes up with a cut-off date....as we all have seen this formula is by no means accurate (knowing how it went from being current for all employment based category in sept 05 to unavailable for eb3 indians at begining of they year to the dates moving 5 years for chinese eb2 in a few months..etc ..etc)
Wouldn't it be nice if USCIS gives themselves a break from the stressful guess work ;) every october and instead of giving cut-off dates, just make eb1-3 'available' for all across the board...then all of us waiting with approved i140's can file 485...get EADs..our wives can work...we can change jobs per will and live happily ever after...May be they can use the data gathered from all the petition received to forecast a better cut-off date for the remaining 11 months...And if they repeat this every year....the most one would have to wait with an approved I40 to file I485 is one year....I am sure lot of guys with pending applications at BECs would also jump on this idea and file new perm petitions...effectively reducing the backlog..if not eliminating it.
Mean while I am proposing all this in humour and not advocating IV to adopt it in their agenda :) ...so don't start pounding on me just yet...

Following up on the NYTimes article about the NumbersUSA group, I visited their website and saw that they have a free FAX program where they can easily send faxes to their senators.
One of their fax letters is below, which is a complete mis-representation of truth - look at point #2.

We should also let the senators know that the credibility of these organizations are questionable and following the news/faxes from these organizations would in turn put the credibility of these senators at a BIG RISK. We also should let the senators know that these groups are artificially "hiking" up the count by sending in duplicate faxes.
Also, I recommend creating a similar page in IV website, where we can have an automated 1-2-3 STEP fax facility where we can automatically fax a letter to senators. It should be as simple as selecting the state and pressing the Send Fax button. Please let me know if you need any programming help from me.

Yes..I understand about ROI and all..thats why I want to do online..no way I could do fulltime.
But my biggest challenge is dedicating time..As of now, by the time we finish our dinner and put kids to sleep, it will be anywhere between 8:30PM to 9:00PM..(Sometimes my 3.5 year old son wakes up and tells me that he wants to become Spider Man..so those days will take us into 10PM range)
Now by the time, kids go to bed, I am totally exhausted and I have to keep in mind the work pressure (sometimes I may have to work late)..so I am little bit confused on how to balance.
But I certainly want to do MBA, because I want to have an MBA degree, I believe it will help me grow to next level in my job and may be help me get a better job or If I move to India then I hope an American MBA from a reputed university will fetch me a mid/senior level position (I am tired of being a tech lead/senior developer in US where all of my Juniors who joined my team as ELTP when I was project lead in India have become Deliver managers etc..dont mean to take their credit away..but staying on H1B here as put a roadblock on my career..not eveyr h1b gets an opportunity to grow..tell me about it)
so, coming back, so far, I heard from Phani about KD and It looks like a good place for Online..
The other one I was thinking about is WP Carey from Arizona state..it is also considered good..I am in FLorida and Warrington college is ranked higher but I heard being a southern college, not many recognize this one.
Also, what about PennState World Campus or Univ. of Massachusets at Lowell/Amherst.
I am just finishing up with my masters in a STEM discipline. I have two kids of my own and my wife works full time. One child is 1 year old. Believe me it just works out fine. But you will not have a "life" for the next two years, so get used to it. Weekends will be just work for two years. You will absolutely need to have your wifes support. But in the end it is very satisfying. And while you may not realize it , it sets a a great example for your child, who thinks studying is cool coz dad does it.

Let's first deal with the value part: This letter could be from any one of us or anybody else from Timbuktu. Why does this letter have any special significance except that the DHS secretary may read it because Murthy and the secretary are alumni of the same institution (see how carefully this part is added to the letter for our consumption). Now this feeds into the intention part. Even if Murthy wrote a letter to the DHS Secretary why did she have to publicize it on her website (except for the gullible among us to take notice). I wrote this once before and I will say it one last time. Pulling stunts such as the flower campaign is PLAIN STUPID. May be not to the extent we feel it should, but USCIS does realize that there are issues with how it is handling cases. It is doing the best it can with the limited resources it is being provided. Please dont embarrass USCIS anymore. Would you keep calling a blind person, blind? Please stop this childish behavior. If anything lets start thinking about CIR and how we can influence changes to favor legal immigrants. We have the time now so start lobbying for changes.
Kindly note that you are dealing with a established government entity. Stop adopting hindi movie ideas when interacting with USCIS. If it were so easy why not arrange "naach-gana" for USCIS everyday. We can invite Malaika Sherawat for half the price we are paying to lobby. Skimpy clothes, raunchy songs, and alcohol may mesmerize the visa officer into stamping 100 K greencards everyday.
One last thing, if anybody believes that a dozen flowers did the trick last time, let me judge your intelligence for you. You are borderline RETARTDED. I bet there were a good number of closed door meetings, lobbying, and lets throw a bone to keep them quiet for sometime- discussions that translated into the July fiasco.

I dont agreee with this dvb guy. 5 years legally is lots of time. And I now know people who are 10-15 years here. He will want to say the same tthing even in that case. Instead learn to rationalize and make sure if one thinks one is eligivle, then see how one can get included.crab behavior, the one at bottom pulls down the one thats climbing up. Finally both end at dinner table.

Come on guys, stop comparing the US with the EU. Even though the $ is down a little bit due to the Subprime mess, it's only a temporary phenomenon and investors will be soon rushing into the US once confidence improves and $ will regain.
Apart from the $, EU is not the US and is no way near the US economy or the opportunities you can find here. The annual income is also less compared to what you can make here in the US and above all US is still the superpower in the world and the rights you get here even as an immigrant are incomparable to what you may experience in the EU. For instance, if you would've held a rally there for your GC in the EU, you'd been kicked out the country next day!! Didn't you guys hear what happened to the Indian docs in the UK??

YOU PEOPLE understand first what i kept in the reply. I did not blame IV for doing other efforts..I am talking about facts about USCIS..So dont make fool us or yourself as IV or any other organization will not be able to attack USCIS..Bcoz USCIS is monarch..

It is sad that none of these desi sites have come forward to help us put our ads on their sites. None has helped us in our cause, even though they are run by immigrants like us who were at one time waiting in line for their greencards. Now after getting their greencard they do not want to help the cause but instead want to make money from it. If any such site owner is reading this post and desires to help by posting our ad on your site, contact us.

could you do a search on yahoo groups, msn groups, google groups on greencard, immigration, legal immigration etc and see if those groups have many members and it is not an anti immigrant group from its intro. Then join them and start posting IV messages in them. You will find hundreds of groups. Each post will send emails to all its members.
i have already done that.I found only few groups that are active and have more members.I have posted in them.

There are several groups in yahoo, msn, google that belong to alumni of IITs, IIMs etc and a lot of their members are in USA. you can post messages in those forums too.
I didn't try that ,they may be moderated .i will give a shot.

IV is grateful for your tireless effort posting messages. While all others lost their steam, you have continued your mission. We recognize your efforts and hope some others will join you to help.
