Exactly. God foribid we lose our jobs. Before and after this announcement we are one bad earnings quarter away from being shipped back home. Its hard to enjoy life with stress like this.

My suggestion to you is to keep an open mind, accepting that your circumstances aren't presently of your choosing. Once you acknowledge your stress and accept it, you will be in a better position to focus on other aspects of your life that you might be neglecting as a result of your stress - for instance, having fun.

I know after we file the i-485 for 180 days, we can change our jobs. But rule is that the new job should be in the same field as the old one.
Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!
biostatistician job position can involve analysis of biological data. That qualifies you still as a biological researcher. Biological researcher is a very very very broad term working from bacteria to human genetic diseases; deep sea fish to suspected life forms in asteroids and space debri (astrobiology). It is basically a straightforward description of what you are going to do as a biostatistician and justification of how this will still qualify you as a biological researcher. That makes it very much job specific: if you are going to use statistical methods to analyze GE's cat scanner machine performace it would not be biological research, but if you are going to use some statistical methods in analyzing cat scanned body images and tie your analysis to clinical conditions it would. If you could post both your current job description in your gc application and the prospective biostatistican job description as you see, I can try to help you.

I am also single and filed 485 in July 485. My PD is Dec 2006 under eb2. At present the EB2 dates are June 2006. I am carefuly waching the dates every month to pull back my application if my Eb2 dates becomes current to my PD date.
But this question often hunts me...

Yes sir, I do. I am suffering for 8 years now because of all these stupid USCIS rules. They think that by changing name from INS to USCIS things will change. Well, got a news for all, it is in worst shape than ever.

Well, it's the bitter truth that a lot of people have been suffering now for a while. Unfortunately in this person's case, it's not the USCIS that messed up, it was the lawyer... Now you're going to come back with something like "It's because of USCIS' stupid rule of not accepting applications when priority dates are not current", but guess what...that's part of the system...you've got to play by the rules!!!...agreed that it would be wonderful if a lot of the rules changed, and IV is doing a great job in trying to make this happen!
By the way, what's your explanation for the rude comment? We all understand that you're an ardent supporter of IV's efforts, and that's awesome, but that doesn't mean you can put other people down...
To answer your question, yes, I am doing my best to ensure that I'm able to make it to the rally...but just some food for thought... in the event that a person is not able to make it to the rally for some reason, it does not give you ANY RIGHT WHATSOEVER to go about bashing them in the way that you are...

I guess these companies are also registered in USA and have moral responsibilty to respond. It is a huge mistake to ignore a national level politician's query.
Gotta love this system...
Two years ago; Grassley sent a questionnaire to the top 10 Indian outsourcing companies of how they use non immigrant visas.
They did not have any legal obligation to answer his query. They answered his questions by non answering it.
Grassley then starts to increase the rhetoric and starts pressuring uscis/dol to start investigations.
uscis/dol start investigatin and denying cases and study it and find fraud.
now; Grassley is getting his way and starting to change policy.
Nascom senses game is over and come begging which is exactly what grassley wanted in the first place.
At the end; he will get these guys to agree to tough measures (ie., lca requirements for L-1; tougher measures on h-1b, etc.
See how Microsoft answered differently when they got the query and compare to these guys.
This system created in USA has a way of making you conform to their behaviour willingly or through long and painful way. Looks like they had to learn through long and painful way.

If you really looking for long term solution then you should focus on action items that core members asking us to do...Have you done any of these?
members will file 485 whenever they can and whenever they want to. I don't think even single person should buy this idea.

I doubt this law will cause any trouble. For analogy, there are laws around carrying current insurance papers. Once I didnt have my current insurance, since every six months new ones get mailed and I forgot to keep them in the car. I showed the police officer my previous expired insurance and mentioned that the insurance-id is the same. He accepted it and asked me to carry the current copy in future.

To live with it every day makes it harder. The only thing to not send me back is, what if someday I have to start over all this again if it makes me regret someday, I should just waited a little more to get though this process:)

how does one know NC is cleared? do you see an update?
No. Mine was cleared on July 22nd,08 - But did not see any LUDs.
If you had two different A#s (140 and 485) you will see an LUD on 140 when they reconcile the two.
