who said master's people do not need desi consulting, I very well know the facts, people did masters in computer science and ended up taking QA testing jobs, for that even 10th standard in an enough qualification.
Very few big companies hire direct MS out of the college people, In fact most of the master's people have to prepare there resumes in the same manar as those who do not have.
I am not saying that MS is conputer science is not worth, it may be but if you look at the % of people who landede up in big companies right out of the college it won't be more than marginal 10 to 15%, I know this very well, I know people drop there last seter jumesst to get H1B's .
it may be worth , but at the end it comes down to getting a job, wether it needs assembly language or Engilsh language.

The interesting thing to note here is
The amendment was on senate floor. It was passed (debated, voted) by senate.
I dont know if this was just a tit for tat amendment (maybe sessions introduced a anti-immigration amendment and Kerry in retaliation introduced his amendment)
Also was this just something that Kerry threw out of his pocket. Or is this a precursor of things to come?
MAN! I didnt come to this country for all this knowledge.

This is an extremely bad bill. With India dominating not only the H1 visa quota and EB green cards applications but also body shops and consulting companies; eliminating the per country quota would massively and unfairly flood America with workers from India
Many defenders of the bill used flawed socio-economic reasons to justify their *shameful and selfish agenda. Unused visa for ROW (Other countries) is NOT because there are not enough skilled workers from other countries but because the uscis/dhs use the quota to conservatively hence at the end of the visa year there are still many quotas left. ROW priority date has never been current for a very long time
Would you prefer to work with 7 immigrants from India and OR 2 from India, 1 from Germany, 1 from Zimbabwe, 1 from Argentina, 1 from Slovakia and 1 from Burma? The bill will not only hurt professional immigrants from other countries but also will hurt diversity, the core and sacred believe of American people

It looks like to me that Porters strike again. they have eaten all the Visa's. very few approvals so far. I am worried about next bulletin now. dates can go back now. every EB3 is porting to EB2.
we see the results. they will block EB2 too.
I'm seeing around 10 approvals from yesterday. Most of the approvals seems like coming after hours. Most of the people are saying they got emails after 11:30 PM last night.
All the cases I have seen are from TSC, none from NSC

Most of the office hours are from 8 - 5 PM, but some of them are open until
6:30 PM. If possbile take a small break and call. It takes less then 2 mins per call. You always have an optiion to leave a voice mail
Hi Guys,

I got the CPO email just now.. i'm not sure if it's because of the SR that my wife opened on Friday evening or it just happened without that.. but anyways it's a relief now.. i also see a lot of people getting cpo emails today.. btw, just curious, does the cpo stage come before "approved" status or after it?
now hope that i receive the card in time.. will post about its validity and start date once i receive it. (i'll be current for the month of September as my pd is july 06)
good luck to others who are waiting and hope that they get cpos soon
Dont worry, once you got CPO mails..normally you should receive the card in/after 5-10 business days..Hopefully with 2yr EAD..as you are not current this mnth right..keep hope!!

Reading from this thread and few other, it is confirmed that in most cases, even if PD is current for a 485 filer, USCIS may not adjudicate those cases unless the processing time is reached. (There are few lucky applicants with PD 2005 and filed 485 after July 2nd and have already received their GC - but that is very few).
And most centers, they are processing Dec 2006 485 applications - a backlog of 10 months.
So, assuming that it may take same 10 months to process 485 filed in July - that is May 2008!!
With this, what are the chances of DOS making PD current for all EB categories again next June? They will do this to use all the VISA numbers for FY2008.
Or, if they don't want to repeat the confusions that happened in July 2007, to what dates will the PDs move (in June/July 2008)? Atleast to 2006?
Thye just see the PD and don't wait for the processing time. Processing time is SLA(Service Level Agreement), either they specify the time frame in which they pocess the case or if they are running beyond their SLA they specify the oldest date of the application in the system.

Only we can help ourselves. The 485 picture for EB3 is very bleak. The only way out is recapture. The hispanic cacus is opposed to any short term relief hence the chances of this getting passed are low but it is worth trying. If we will be doomed if hitch our wagon to the CIR... as you can see we just need 100k odd visas to make all the PD's current. CIR will add the nightmare of 5 million undocumented people and USCIS cannot handle that load in its current state.
I hope the release of this information doesnt turn out to be another self goal. EB2's (some, not all) will stop worrying and working towards a resolution because they can sense that the end is near for them. I have some concerns with the dates because EB3 I should have been at Jan 2002 based on the numbers. I am sure others will do their own calculations with regard to their categories and realise that we are not out the woods.
Please dont lose sight of the goal, if you had planned to meet your congressmen/Senators, use the spreadsheet to show that a simple solution will solve our problems. You can also convince the anti immigration lawmakers that recapture will not give GC's to a million people(as propagated by the anti websites). Please don't cancel your appointments or any planned tasks. talk about the people who are stuck since 1997.

I have followed the activity at this site for a few weeks now. The Indian community in the US is probably the most well to do and educated of all the minorities. Yet history repeats itself. Most are more concerned about esoteric subjects, nuclear treaties etc than the plight of the people here from their own country. If all the Indian community naturalized or not would stand up for this cause, people would listen. They would be forced to. But as always divided we fall. Somehow once this dash for permanent residence is over for people, they not only lose sight of their own struggle but also of the thousands of others involved. How many members on this site are actually green card holders or citizens?
I do hope that everyone here endeavors to contribute with the same vigor ever after he or she has obtained his permanent residence. Immigration will always be a struggle and all should be united for the people who will come and face this daunting task over the years.
I live in Virginia and I have meet many of these so-called “Indian American” organizations who claim to be active in DC. None of these orgs of “established” Indian-Americans (IA) wants to help on green card delay issue. “established” IAs and their so-called active “Indian American” orgs are totally useless. Most IAs, who contribute to these orgs, make their contribution because these IA orgs get them opportunities for photo-ops with lawmakers or people of influence; and these IAs are happy with just their pictures with some Senator or congressman. These guys then probably show these pictures to their family and friends to give an impression that they are well connected and powerful. These people, some of them are doctors, do not want anything to do with our issue. Yes, nuclear issue draws their attention as it “sounds” like an “important” issue and makes them look more “important”, working on an “important” issue. And their contribution to Indian-American orgs is simply a hogg wash, just to get an opportunity for some useless pictures. I have seen these people and these orgs operate very closely and none of these so called “Indian-American” orgs and these established Indian-Americans is of any use at all. I was also told by another fellow that some of these Indian Orgs in DC are front for their businesses. We are dealing with selfish idiotic egoistic XXXXXXXX…. So rnanchal, you are right, these Indian Americans are a “big force”…. but only to click their digital cameras to take pictures with the lawmakers. This “big force” has repeatedly refused to help on green card delay issue.
Totally agree with the philosophy of IV that if we have to do something, we have to organize to fix our own problems. I live in Virginia and had a few opportunities to attend events on the Hill. With what I have seen, I can tell you that we can organize and make a massive difference in this debate. And it would be not just foolish, but totally irrational to depend on anybody (including so called “Indian American” orgs in DC) to work on the issue of green card delays.

I received an email today from USCIS requesting additional information on my case. My wife received identical email like I did.
Please let me know
1. How many days does it take for USCIS to send the letter.
2. How many days does it take for USCIS to look into my case again once I send the evidence requested.
Did anyone receive similar evidence requests. What evidence do they possibly need in this phase....
Appreciate your help and thanks in advance. Following is the email....
On May 16, 2011, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.
A request for evidence is made when an application/petition is lacking required documentation/evidence (initial evidence) or the officer needs more documentation/evidence (additional evidence) to determine an applicant's eligibility for the benefit sought. We may send you a request for evidence at any stage of our review. The request will indicate what evidence or information is needed for us to fully evaluate your application or petition. The notice will explain where to send the evidence and will give the deadline for your response. Your application or petition will be held in suspense during that time. If you receive a request for evidence and have questions about what you need to submit, you may call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.
If you have questions or concerns about your application or the case status results
listed above, or if you have not received a decision from USCIS within the current
processing time listed*, please contact USCIS Customer Service at (800) 375-5283.

When USCIS sent you the RFE notice, you would have seen "Request for Evidence". After USCIS receives your response, you would have seen the hard LUD, while the header is still for RFE. Then after some days (with in 60 days), the header changes to "Request for Evidence Response Review", while the old header "Request for Evidence" vanishes. I was in the same boat like you. I spoke to my attorney's team and they offered me the insight glimpse of working of USCIS.
Well I responded in Oct 2008 and it had RFE status. It didnt change for the past 2 years and it changed to "RFE Review" yesterday. Is this just a coincidence or something to extract out of it ?

I think a lawsuit on this would be appropriate.
Is IV considering that on our behalf ? I would be willing to donate money for this specific purpose, if this is started.
I also hate loosing SS Taxes. I mean we dont have any
security in this country. We get 60 days to pack up if we loose our jobs and then they collect SS taxes from us. This is insane and a gross abuse of people on H1B. I think we are equally to blame to continue taking the abuse as the abusers. I fully support the clause that Green Card/Naturalization is a priveldge and not a right, but robbing me out of my money is not. I do support filing a lawsuit against this fully. I am sure if we pull one years worth of our SS taxes, then we can pay for this suit. We might win or loose but least we will have peace of mind that we faught for the right cause.
